Not just another day :)
Someone once told me that you need to try something new every day. It could be anything from learning a new skill to introducing a friend to a new song. Watching a movie to travelling to an unknown place. Eating a new dish to ringing up an old friend. Smiling at a stranger to writing a blog post. The list is endless and the possibility of the carrying out the exercise doesn't seem so remote. It requires just a little thought and action. And there you are! Doing something new every day and making life eventful and memorable, in every sense of the term.
Sometimes my days get so monotonous. It doesn't usually happen when I am at home. Because I cook something new everyday. (There is of course a microwave, an induction cooker and a small kitchen space allotted to each hostel floor, but where is the time??!) My fingers go benumbed if don't soute the onions/ scrape the bar chocolate into curls/ break the egg yolk/ melt the Amul butter slab.
I miss playing with the different textures of food.
Coming back to my theme of 'the need to do something different', I feel content today. Because my day was so different from the normal routine.
I skipped last night's sleep ( had an assignment to finish), submitted the write up in the morning, had breakfast and then went to sleep at 9 am. Woke up at 2 pm. Took bath, missed lunch from the mess and had a Mexican cheese sandwich from tea post. Tidied up my room and lay on my bed for the next couple of hours thinking of nothing, experiencing p e a c e.
Looking back, I certainly don't feel proud of myself, but the feeling of having done something different is promising. And most of all, I wouldn't have been writing this if it was just another day.
cheers !
