Bananas? Why not!
Give me a banana and I might eat it if I am hungry. Give me two, I would have asked for another two. Because, I can always make the fritters!
Banana fritters , known by different names across Kerala is simply a delicious snack. It is loved by old and the young alike. Though it is a deep- fried snack, people gobble it down with a lot of pleasure, ignoring their cholesterol or diabetics for a while.
Every train journey is packed with this tempting aroma that I often have to resist. The aroma, that has lingered around our school and college canteen premises, brings along a lot of unexplained feelings, as it tickles your gourmet.. I could die for the snack in Hyderabad. The kind of banana we use for frying is not available there, leave the fritters!
On my last Sabari journey from Hyderabad, the Kannadiga lady who fell in love with this snack ended up ordering no less than six plates( I am not exaggerating!).With a health-conscious, cleanliness obsessed mother by my side, I had no choice but to promise myself that the first thing I would do after getting home would be to arrange for bananas. Let me tell you, this is one easy snack I make quite often, and I love it!
All you need to do is just this.
Slice the bananas , dip it in maida (flour) batter made with a little bit of turmeric powder, sugar and salt. And fry! Usually, the bananas are sliced along its length so each piece would be a long and thin. But I follow my instincts and do things as I feel like. Call it my banana fetish, but buy me bananas and I will dish out the perfect fritters !
I'll buy you banana!
